Can't wait. I love Kris's version on BROKEN FREEDOM SONG. With the great Mr. Crowell involved, my hopes are through the roof for this one. ❤️

As always, I admire your voice and directness when so many cower. Woody Guthrie would be busting at the seams, and I’m guessing Hank Williams would be smiling alongside.

When a musician or especially a singer/ songwriter takes that step up and becomes an entertainer (much easier said than done imnsho), they are often advised, chided, coerced or even threatened to keep politics or devisive subject matter out of their songs and especially their stage shows. “People are here to be entertained, dammit, not to be reminded of all the trouble in the world. Just do yer danged job, fer crissakes!” In the 60s and 70s, singer/songwriter/entertainers were EXPECTED to use their stage shows as a ‘bully pulpit’ to exhort their audience to get out there and make a difference. Just think of CSN&Y and “Ohio” (“Tin soldiers and Nixon coming…”) - Kris was there back then doing his part - writing and singing songs about ‘gritty’ topics (“Me and Bobby McGee”, Sunday Morning Coming Down” come to mind - there’s a bunch more for sure). Hell, I just turned 70 (but who’s counting ;^/ ) so I’m old enough to have been there too , protesting the war, racial injustice, ecological/ pollution horrors. Viet Nam vets were ashamed of their service and PTSD wasn’t even in ‘the manual’ yet for mental disorders. My Dad passed the saying down to me saying it was an Army thing derived from the ‘pig latin’ motto, “Illigitimi non carborundum” or, “Don’t let the bastards grind you down”. Works fine either way - seeing as Kris is a Rhodes Scholar, I guess his way (and now yours too) gets the nod. Sorry Pop! At least she got the same last name as us……

Rock on, cousin! Methinks this one’s “got legs”!!

Peacenlovenlight ✌️🫶🏼🌞
